主題と目標
In this course, we overview the research on Chinese grammar from formal linguistic perspectives. The aim of this course is to learn the current analyses on Mandarin Chinese and gain the ability to discuss the problems in these analyses. First, we review the work on Chinese nouns. Second we proceed to see the problems related to predicates. Last, we explore the possibility of expanding the formal linguistics to other area.

学生へのメッセージ
Students who attend this course are required to have basic knowledge of Chinese grammar and elementary set theory. While linguistic knowledge is not a prerequisite for taking the course, students need to be sufficiently patient and engaged in order to learn some basic concepts of formal semantics, which are certain to be intriguing.
