主題と目標
The class focuses on some selected aspects of the human engineering field. It includes lectures and practical exercises on smartphone sensing capabilities, its use as a human-environment interface, the measurement of human physical behaviors, active video games, postural evaluation, etc.

授業計画
1) Physical behaviors: introduction, terminology, concepts. 2) Smartphone sensing capabilities, an overview of hardware. 3) Accelerometry: gravity, roll, pitch, yaw, an phone orientation. 4) Accelerometry: locomotive behaviors. 5) Accelerometry: postural assessment. 6) Global navigation satellite system: overview. 7) Global navigation satellite system: practical exercises. 8) Radio-frequency identification: an overview. 9) Smartphone and gamification of physical behaviors. 10) Active video games: technology overview. 11) Smartphone interactions and postures. 12) Physical activity and posture at work: standing desk. 13) Test. 14-15) ALH: 1- to 2-page summary (including one relevant illustration) on one aspect related to the above selected topics.

Keywords are translated in Japanese. Instruction in Japanese can be done for practical exercises. Japanese language will be used when necessary. The test and ALH work can be completed either in Japanese or English. Let’s work together to build a stimulating and secure learning environment where everyone can become more familiar with the topic and more confident with the language. 授業では英語が使われますが、簡単な言葉を使ってゆっくりと話すので、心配しないでください。わからないことばがあるときは、日本語で説明が可能です。一緒に気楽な感じで勉強しましょう.
